Creating Your Content Plan

Step 1: Define Your Goals

  1. Go to Content Plan → Settings
  2. Set your content goals:
    • Monthly article target (e.g., publish 4 articles/month)
    • Total traffic goal
    • Keyword ranking targets
  3. Save your goals

Step 2: Select Your Keywords

  1. Go to Content Plan → Keywords
  2. Import or select keywords you want to rank for
  3. Moonrank calculates estimated effort (time to rank)
  4. Set priority for each keyword:
    • High (target within 30 days)
    • Medium (target within 90 days)
    • Low (target within 180 days)

Step 3: Generate Article Ideas

  1. Click “Generate Ideas”
  2. For each keyword, Moonrank suggests:
    • Article outline
    • Estimated word count
    • Related topics to link to
    • Content angle unique to your audience

Step 4: Schedule Your Content

  1. Drag articles into your calendar
  2. Schedule publish dates
  3. Assign team members
  4. Set review deadlines
  5. Save your plan

Calendar View

The Content Plan calendar shows:
  • Color coding - Articles by status (Draft, Scheduled, Published)
  • Multiple views - Weekly, monthly, or quarterly
  • Drag & drop - Reschedule articles easily
  • Capacity view - How many articles per team member per week

Content Pipeline

Track the status of all planned content:

Planning Stage

  • Ideas generated
  • Keywords assigned
  • Outlines approved

Creation Stage

  • Draft being written
  • Content in editor
  • Optimization in progress

Review Stage

  • Submitted for approval
  • Feedback given
  • Revisions in progress

Publishing Stage

  • Scheduled for publication
  • Published (live)
  • Monitoring performance

Collaboration & Assignments

Assign Articles

  1. Click on a planned article
  2. Select “Assign to” team member
  3. Set deadline
  4. Team member gets notification

Comments & Feedback

  • Team members comment on articles during review
  • Tagged comments notify specific people
  • Resolved discussions keep threads organized

Approval Workflows

Set up approval requirements:
  • Editor writes
  • Manager reviews
  • Admin publishes

Performance Tracking

Monitor Your Plan Progress

The dashboard shows:
  • Articles published vs. planned
  • Content calendar completion percentage
  • Which articles are driving traffic
  • Keyword ranking improvements

Adjustment & Iteration

If articles underperform:
  • Identify why (poor keyword choice, weak content, bad title)
  • Update the article and republish
  • Track if changes improve performance
  • Learn for future content

Browse AI-generated ideas for your industry:
  1. Go to Content Plan → Ideas
  2. Filter by topic, difficulty, or search volume
  3. Click “Add to Plan” to schedule
  4. Customize for your brand voice
  5. Publish when ready
